Launching wlu.edu:
A Recruitment Focus

Led a collaborative effort between external vendors and internal teams to launch wlu.edu, emphasizing a strategic, recruitment-driven approach. This initiative not only revitalized the university's online presence but also significantly improved its effectiveness in attracting and engaging prospective students.

Engaging the Community: Recognizing the importance of stakeholder buy-in, I conducted "road shows" with faculty, staff, and students to socialize the impending changes and gather feedback. These sessions were instrumental in understanding user needs and pain points, fostering a collaborative environment that facilitated smoother project continuation.

User Research and Insights: Conducting comprehensive user research was a cornerstone of my approach. I identified that the newly implemented search function, which only worked on the front end, posed a major pain point as users were accustomed to searching the entire site simultaneously. This insight was critical in guiding the necessary refinements.

Iterative Refinements: Based on user feedback, I led efforts to refine the search functionality. We added more filters and options to improve search effectiveness and implemented solutions to direct users to alternative search methods or strategies if the initial search was unsuccessful. Continuous feedback loops with stakeholders ensured that changes were effective and adjustments were made as needed.

Top Outcomes:

Resolved Post-Launch Conflicts: Effective change management strategies facilitated the resolution of conflicts over the site map and homepage.

Improved Search Functionality: Iterative refinements led to a more effective and user-friendly search experience.

Positive Stakeholder Feedback: Continuous engagement and feedback incorporation resulted in positive stakeholder responses and improved satisfaction.

Increased Adoption: Enhanced user experience and functionality contributed to greater adoption and usage of the redesigned website.

Quantifiable Improvements: Monitored performance metrics showed significant improvements in user engagement and search success rates post-refinement.
